SEOUL, Jan. 5 (Yonhap) – LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Spring, a domestic League of Legends (LoL) professional league, kicks off this month.

LCK has announced at LCK Arena in Jongno-gu that DXG KIA [000270] vs DRX and Gen.G vs. T1 will open the opening game of LCK Spring, on Thursday

The regular league runs for two months until March 19 and is played five days a week, two games a day from Wednesday to Sunday. A total of 90 games are scheduled for each of the 10 teams, 18 games each.

LCK has organized a "special match" in the regular league this season. Previously, the match was formed by a random draw, but this time, a special match "Saturday Showdown" formed in consideration of ranking and rival composition in the opening game, the last regular league game, and one game on Saturday is scheduled.

As a result, 10 LCK teams will be scheduled to play at least once in a "Saturday Showdown."

The playoff format has also changed.

The top six regular league teams are the same to play best-of-five tournaments, but they will be given a chance to challenge again even if they lose once after the second round by introducing a "double-elimination" method which is similar to a consolation match.

The spring playoffs begin on March 22 and the final is on April 9.

The title sponsor of LCK Spring is Woori Bank, which has sponsored the league since 2019.
