The classic but at the same time raw nature of Busan seemed to fit the genre of the movie perfectly. That is why I picked Busan.”

Protagonist Hae-woong acted by South Korean actor Cho Jin-woong is a runner up of a congressman who plans out his revenge on Soon-tae acted by Lee Sung-min who betrays Hae-woong and strips him of his power.

“Hae-woong is a poor character but at the same time it’s a character which shows how we can’t always act under the rightful justice.” addressed actor Cho Jin-woong throughout the press conference.

“I have always wanted to cast actor Cho Jin-woong for the role since the beginning of the scenario process.” addressed director lee throughout the press conference.

Moreover I needed someone who can show off the unique vibe of a person born and raised from Busan therefore to me, actor Cho Jin-woong was a perfect match for the role.”

Lee Sung-min acted out the role of Kwon Soon tae who is the mastermind behind the whole scene of politics, and actor Kim Mu-yeol acted out the gangster Kim Pil-do.

“There are some times when we come to think that there might be a bigger power or something grand that plays a role in our everyday life. Character Soon-tae not only symbolizes that but also shows the real truth.” Stated actor Lee Sung-min throughout the press conference.

“There were a lot of experimental aspects within the production” actor Kim Mu-yeol addressed throughout the press conference.

“The hardest part of the production was learning the dialect of Busan, I was born and raised in Seoul so I had no idea or clue of how to speak such dialect, also since my character is a fighter and there are a lot of action scenes I had to gain about 12 to 13kg within a month to fit into the character.” addressed Kim Mu-yeol.

When working on the production of “The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil” director kept on thinking of how well Kim Mu-yeol would fit in with the gangster role.

“Back in the movie ‘The Gangster The Cop, The Devil,’ Kim Mu-yeol acted out the cop, however I really wanted him to try out the gangster role. Moreover I thought the two shot between Kim Mu-yeol and Cho Jin-woong would create another amazing energy. I felt like by joining forces with Cho Jin-woong and Kim Mu-yeol I would be able to create something that has not been seen before.” addressed director Lee throughout the press conference.
