SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- Former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin Has filed a 5 billion won defamation lawsuit against the executives of BELIFT LAB, the agency behind the girl group ILLIT, her legal representatives announced on Friday.
Min's legal team said in a statement, "Today, we filed a complaint with the Yongsan Police Station against BELIFT LAB CEO Kim Tae-ho, Vice President Choi, and others, citing defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. Simultaneously, we filed a lawsuit demanding 5 billion won in compensation from BELIFT LAB."
Min previously accused BELIFT LAB of plagiarizing concepts from NewJeans during the planning phase of their rookie girl group ILLIT, sparking a "copying" controversy.
In response, BELIFT LAB countered by filing their own lawsuit against Min, alleging obstruction of business and defamation, alongside a civil suit.
Min's legal team stated, "CEO Kim Tae-ho and others have spread numerous false claims through YouTube videos and official statements. We hope they will face appropriate criminal penalties and be held liable for damages."
This legal battle follows Min's resignation as a board director at ADOR on November 20, as she announced her departure from both ADOR and its parent company, HYBE.
Min added, "I plan to take all necessary legal actions against the numerous unlawful acts committed by HYBE and its affiliates."
