SEOUL, Nov. 15 (Yonhap) -- K-pop juggernauts BTS secured four trophies at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) held in Budapest, Hungary on Sunday (local time).

The septet won the awards for Best Pop, Best Group, Best K-pop and Biggest Fans, becoming the most awarded group for this year's ceremony.

In particular, in the Best Pop category, BTS was up against global pop stars like Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, and Olivia Rodrigo, but still managed to claim the prize for the first time this year.

Since 2018, when BTS first received an award at the MTV EMA, the supergroup has succeeded in winning the Biggest Fans category for the fourth consecutive year.

Last year, BTS was honored with four prizes for Best Song, Best Virtual Live, Best Group and Biggest Fan.

The MTV EMA, which was held online last year due to COVID-19, was held in-person this year, however BTS did not attend the ceremony.

Meanwhile, rapper Lil Nas X's "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" won the Best Music Video award, and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran clinched the Best Artist award and Best Song for "Bad Habits."

As such, major awards ceremonies are starting to be held one by one to evaluate the music industry this year.

BTS has also been nominated for the upcoming American Music Awards (AMA), held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles (LA) on Nov. 21 (local time).

For this year's AMA, BTS is currently the nominees for the Artist of The Year, Favorite Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song categories.

The Artist of the Year award is considered to be the grand prize of the fan-voted AMA and it is the first time for the Korean boy band to make the cut as nominees for the category.

BTS' Billboard-winning "Butter" was also nominated for the Favorite Pop Song prize.

The K-pop superstars will present a remix version of "Butter" with popular female rapper Megan Thee Stallion at the awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live on ABC.
