SEOUL, Mar. 15 (Yonhap) -- Taean County in South Chungcheon Province is gearing up to hold the 19th Taean Sand Sculpture Festival at Yeonpo Beach in Geunheung-myeon from June to July, the county announced Wednesday.
The Festival, which used to be held at Mongsanpo Beach, was then moved to Sinduri Beach from 2016 until last year.
Among Yeonpo, Sinduri, Kkotji, Sambong, and Gijipo Beaches, the county decided to hold the Festival at Yeonpo Beach for the first time due to relatively higher participation among residents and the potential to revitalize tourism.
Yeonpo Beach has been fairly reckoned as a tourist spot where visitors can watch the sunrise, which is very rare in the West Sea, and is also one of Taean’s representative beaches where many tourists visit every year to walk along the spectacular white sandy beach curved like a bow.
“The Taean Sand Sculpture Festival will be the festival where one can enjoy diverse programs using said, including exhibitions of sand sculptures that have been meticulously crafted by professional artists as well as sculpture competitions by amateur artists,” a county official said.
