SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- Actress Jeon Jong-seo who decided not to play a romance character will return as a romance film main character.
“Nothing Serious,” which is to be released in November, shows the actors who have been taking tough characters so far totally change their impressions.
Jeon who impressed the watchers with fierce acting in “Beoning” and “Call” has teamed up Son Suk-ku from the series “Mother” and a Netflix’s military reality series “D.P.” The film is about an ambiguous relationship between a man and a woman who met through a dating app.
The actress revealed on an online conference Wednesday that she accepted the role due to the film’s unique scenario.
“The curiosity of ’What are they stammering for?,’ ‘What’s the problem?,’ is the funny part of the film,” said Jeon.
“Unlike other romantic-comedies, the film has honesty and cheekiness only a ‘romance without a relationship” has. I, too, played my part without any hesitation. I didn’t even try to look pretty,” said the actress.
“A 150 % reality film. This is just the story of us, ordinary people,” said Son.
“Jeon took the lead really well. I thought I should follow her more seeing her focusing both in and out of the shooting set,” said Son.
The upcoming film is director Jung Ka-young’s first commercial film who has filled his career with productions such as “Heart,” “Cinema with you” and “Hit the Night,”
“Don’t we all have those times when we want to feel our passion not getting into a serious relationship? The film shows those petty and embarrassing thoughts,” said director Jung.
She said that it is still unbelievable that she managed to cast the two actors saying.
“I thought that I would give anything to work with actress Jeon seeing her exert such powerful energy from her acting. I was surprised to hear this actress willing to work with me. Also, I was so pleased and thankful to actor Son, as he decided to take the role the day he read the scenario.”
