SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- Jeon So-mi who attracted the watchers with catchy performances through her solo song “DUMB DUMB’ will meet the fans as an adorable punk.
“I am so excited, as this song, which only I have been listening to, has come out to world. I want to show it to fans too,” said Jeon on an online showcase for her new regular album “XOXO” Friday.
This is her first regular album to be released in about 2 years of her debut as a solo artist.
When asked whether the previous “DUMB DUMB”’s immense popularity felt like a pressure to her, the confident girl answered, “It did not feel like a pressure to me.”
“Rather, I gained more confidence. I am happy to able to show the fans my confidence and me being full of myself through this regular album.”
“I became more confident and relaxed through “DUMB DUMB.” The upcoming album is like a “completed” version of me. I poured everything in preparing the production, so I feel more relieved and light,” said Jeon.
Also, as this is her first album, it carries a special meaning to her. Especially she has put a lot of effort in the title song “XOXO.”
Teddy, the head of The Black Label and Pink Sweat$, America’s world-class singer-songwriter specially backed up for her taking part in composing and arranging.
“XOXO”’s original meaning is “dear” or “with love” added at the bottom of a letter or a message. But, unlike its sweet-looking title, the lyrics sarcastically twists the meaning around to say, “XOXO, See you never.”
In the music video, Jeon is a little devil bullying her ex-boyfriend.
The point of the soon-to-be-released song’s choreography is the “heart dance,” the artist said. She added that she would love to do a “heart dance challenge” with dancer Lee Jung of YGX who recently appeared in “Street Woman Fighter.”
Apart from “XOXO,” the album contains 7 more tracks to show the singer’s various sides.
2 years have passed since she entered the music industry as a solo singer. Now, she introduces her album as a “package-gift set” showing her ambition to “secure the basis for Jeon So-mi as a solo singer.”
The alubm will be revealed through music sites at 6 p.m. Friday.
