SEOUL August, 22 (Yonhap) --Gimhae city, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on Monday that it will be cancelling the Gaya Culture Festival, which was scheduled to be held in October.

The city of Gimhae has postponed the Gaya Culture Festival, which was scheduled to be held in April, to October in order to protect citizens from the spread of COVID-19.

However, in order to protect the safety of citizens from the re-spreading of COVID-19, the festival was eventually canceled.

The city canceled the Gaya Culture Festival for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.

The Gaya Culture Festival, which started in 1962 and is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, is the representative festival of Gimhae.

Every year, the Geumgwan Gaya Culture Festival was held in April to coincide with the Chunhyangdaejeil (15th day of the lunar calender) of King Suro.
