SEOUL, Mar. 30 (Yonhap) -- Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, announced on the 30th that it was selected for the '2022 Regional Specialized Sports Tourism Industry Promotion' contest that was held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Sports Promotion Foundation.

With the theme 'Mecca Of Water Sports- let's go to Danyang' it will receive 500 million won for three years from this year, thus receiving a total of 1.5 billion won from the government.

With this selection, Danyang-gun plans to hold South Korea's first 'Extreme Water Sports Competition' this summer by combining water bike, kayak and triathlon along the beautiful natural scenery of the Namhan River.

Additionally, with the Byeolgok Ecological Sports Park Apron and Sangjinnaru, a summer festival with water bikes, pedal boats experience, kayak academy will also be arranged.
