SEOUL, September 29 (Yonhap) -- There is known to be a fan of Hallyu star Kim Soo-hyun who spent a maximum of 180 million won to attend his fan meeting in Thailand.

Actor Kim Soo-hyun, who gained popularity through dramas "Moon Embracing the Sun," and "You Who Came from the Stars," will be holding his fan meeting "Meet & Greet" at Thunder Dome, in Muangthong Thani, Thailand.

This fan meeting was organized as a customer event by Lotus, which operates large supermarkets in Thailand, as it conducted a "Gold & Lifestyle" campaign to promote gold investment and sales.

Customers who purchased more than 5,000 baht (about 190,000 won) of gold at stores in Lotus will receive applications to participate, and the top 3,800 people based on their purchases will be invited to the fan meeting.

Above all, 100 people who spent the most money will be able to sit on the front row and will have other VIP benefits such as photo time with Kim Soo-hyun, a signature and souvenir, and more.

As a result of the tally, the fan who was invited to the fan meeting as the No. 1 buyer spent 4.7 million baht (177 million won).

The No.2 buyer spent 4.0 million baht (151 million won). The combined purchase amount of all of the top ten buyers exceeded 1 million baht (37.7 million won).

It is known that the amount of purchases to get the VIP ticket soared due to fierce competition among fans.

The locals said, "This event is the most expensive fan meeting among all of the Hallyu stars."

K-pop and K-drama are highly popular in Thailand, one of the starting points of Hallyu. A result of a recent study showed that Thai people think Korea is the country that has the greatest influence on their culture.

Many Hallyu stars are visiting Thailand as Thailand looses different regulations regarding COVID-19 and declares an endemic, However, there are observations saying that the ticket prices, which go over 300 thousand won, are too expensive.

Meanwhile, on October 1, the day before Kim Soo-hyun's fan meeting, the "Best of Best Concert" will be held at the Muangthong Thani Impact Arena in Bangkok, featuring Tae-yeon, BamBam, and Chen.

Moreover, fan signing events of SEVENTEEN and Apink CHOBOM, concerts of Kim Jae-joong and TXT, and the "Hi Bangkok, Arena-K 2022" concert featuring Akdong Musician, NCT Dream, and more will be held next month in Thailand.
