SEOUL, August 31 (Yonhap) -- The 14th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (Kim Dong-yeon Organizing Chairman and Jung Sang-jin Executive Chairman) will be held from September 22 to 29, in Goyang and Paju, Gyeonggi Province announced on Wednesday.
It is the first festival face-to-face festival in three years, and the festival will be playing 138 films from 53 countries (89 long films and 49 short films) at Baekseok Megaboc, Ilsan Bella Citta Megabox, and Goyang Aram Nuri theater.
There will be four categories competing (Global, Asia, Korea, and Short Film). 56 films decided to be in the competition will be judged, and finally six films will be chosen (two films for both Global and Short Film).
The movie "Keep Stepping" by director Luke Cornish, which depicts a friendly competition between two immigrant female dancers who competed in Australia's largest street dance contest and a struggle for a better tomorrow, will be played at the opening ceremony.
During the event, "Docs On Stage," which combines film screenings and performances, will be held at the outdoor stage created at the Aram Nuri Theater in Goyang and the Goyang Flower Exhibition Hall.
There will be special film screenings at Paju Imjingak Nuri Peace Park and gallery Gribbs, and "DMZ Docs, In the Story," an industrial platform which supports the documentary production process step by step, will be set up in Goyang Bitmaru Broadcasting Support Center.
There will be 80 films available online through the online documentary streaming service "VoDA."
Jung Sang-jin, Executive Chairman said, "We focused on bringing back the nature of the festival as this year it is held as a face-to-face festival, where they can meet the audience." He added, "We hope many audiences will visit the festival and enjoy various works, from experimental works to masterpieces."
