SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- "2024 Weverse Con Festival," a major music event hosted by HYBE, drew the curtains on the 17th, drawing a total of 40,000 spectators both online and offline over two days.
HYBE announced on the 17th that the event, held on June 15-16 at the Inspire Resort in Yeongjongdo, Incheon, attracted 22,000 offline attendees and 18,000 online viewers.
This attendance figure is nearly double that of last year's event, which saw around 20,000 participants. The proportion of foreign attendees was significant, with 51.0% offline and 63.0% online, making up 56.5% of the total audience. Since the announcement of the festival at the end of February, approximately 1.53 million posts related to the event were shared on X (formerly Twitter).
HYBE remarked, "It was a gathering where the pure passion of around 40,000 fans united under the name of music," and evaluated the festival as having evolved into a truly global music festival beyond K-pop.
This year's festival featured 24 teams, four more than last year. In addition to HYBE artists such as SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, BOYNEXTDOOR, and I’LL-IT, the event also showcased various K-pop stars like Kim Junsu, Kim Jaejoong, and Chuu, energizing the audience. Emerging J-pop stars like IMASE and YOASOBI also participated, broadening the musical diversity.
Celebrating his 30th debut anniversary, singer Park Jin-young held a tribute stage, performing joint acts with various junior artists. HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, who has a long-standing relationship with Park Jin-young from their time at JYP Entertainment, made a surprise appearance to collaborate with him on stage.
The stage design, resembling the city's skyline, captivated the audience's attention, while the massive 68.5-meter-long LED screen vividly showcased the artists' movements and expressions.
HYBE also introduced services like "Weverse Queue," allowing attendees to book various experience booths via an app. This service was used 24,000 times over the two days. The Weverse booth, offering various entertainment such as four-cut photo shoots, attracted nearly 20,000 users, double that of last year.
HYBE reported, "Over the two days, Weverse had 7 million logins, accounting for 70% of the usual monthly average of 10 million logins."
