SEOUL, November 13 (Yonhap) -- A husband who disappeared on the wedding day returned six years younger.

The fantasy romance movie "Cafe Midnight: Missing Honey" depicts a space-time transcendence romance in the setting of a suspicious cafe where every customer is living in their own time zone.

The movie begins in the background of Busan in 2022. Nam Goong-yoon (Chae Seo-jin), a police officer, runs out wearing a white dress to look for her lover Ahn Tae-young (Lee Yi-kyung), who disappeared on the wedding day. There is a suspicious map on the spot where Ahn Tae-young was last spotted.

Nam Goong-yoon, who was following the map, sees a cafe that she has never seen before. Nam Goong-yoon notices Ahn Tae-young, but Ahn Tae-young does not recognize her as being absurd, saying that it is 2016.

This is a night cafe that opens at midday and closes when the sun rises. Everyone at this cafe lives their life in their own time zone. People, including those who are dreaming of independence during the Japanese colonial period, a young man who participated in the Vietnam War, and someone who is holding a pocket watch, spend their night at this cafe.

Ahn Tae-young, now in 2016, has no idea why he disappeared on the wedding day, but he is waiting for Nam Goong-yoon, who is also looking for Nam Goong-yoon in the future.The two people depict the comfortable relationship of a couple who have been together for a long time in 2022 and depict a flattering and lively romance at the night cafe as if it is their first time meeting and getting to know each other.

People with various stories are gathered at this cafe. Diverse people, starting from a grandmother who lost her brother in war to a middle-aged woman who wants to meet the person who saved her from school violence in the past, rely on the master (Shin Joo-hwan) who oversees everything in the cafe and wait for the person they want to meet beyond time and space.

Director Jung Yoon-soo explained, "The night cafe itself is the main character of the movie," adding, "The night cafe is where people can turn back time and recover from something they've lost. There are a lot of people who have lost their special things."

The effort put in to maximize the beauty of the movie can be seen as it is a fantasy film with a story that transcends time and space.

The way to the night cafe seems deserted and mysterious at the same time. The cafe, which can only be found by climbing the hill and going through the forest, is decorated with old antiques, making it feel like a new world.

Lee Yi-kyung, who has recently been active in entertainment programs, will be showing his true self as an actor. Lee Yi-kyung vividly expresses the time gap by playing Ahn Tae-young, who is serious and mature in 2022, and the immature Ahn Tae-young with long hair, who loves music in 2016.

However, it is somewhat difficult to go through all the stories of people gathered at the cafe within the limited running time. As the stories of Nam Goong-yoon and Ahn Tae-young regarding their family history and dreams abandoned in the past becomes tangled and disconnected, it leads to a loss of concentration.
