SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) --Lotus flowers are in full bloom in the oldest garden in Korea, Gungnamji, Buyeo-eup, Buyeo county, South Chungcheong province.

At the 128,610 square meters lotus site in Gungnamji, from the end of last month, 10 million lotuses of 50 species started to bloom.

The lotus flowers in Gungnamji will continue to bloom until September, and is expected to reach its peak during the "20th Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival," which will be held for four days from July 14th.

As the Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival was not able to be held for three years due to COVID-19, the county is planning to put a lot of preparations this year including planting various tree species and improving trails to make it the best festival in the country.

"We will pay special attention to the management of convenience and safety facilities for tourists, including repairing the rocking chairs, large swings, and many more," said an official from the county.
