SEOUL, March 14 (Yonhap) -- BLACKPINK's first full-length album pre-release track “How You Like That” has surpassed 1 billion streams on the world's largest music platform, Spotify, according to their agency YG Entertainment on the 14th.
Among K-pop girl groups, BLACKPINK is the first to achieve 1 billion streams for a single song. Globally, they rank third, following the Pussycat Dolls and the Spice Girls. It took BLACKPINK approximately 3 years and 8 months to reach this milestone.
YG explained, "This achievement is a result of BLACKPINK's unparalleled influence and unwavering popularity in the mainstream music market."
BLACKPINK now boasts 32 songs with streams in the billion range. The cumulative streaming count for all their releases so far has reached 12.6 billion.
Last year, BLACKPINK was officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the 'Most Streamed Artist on Spotify Among Girl Groups Worldwide'.
“How You Like That” dominated domestic charts upon its release in 2020 and peaked at 33 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and 20 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The music video for this song has surpassed 1.2 billion views on YouTube, while the dance performance video has garnered over 1.5 billion views, surpassing the main music video.
