SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- K-pop sensation BTS swept the Japanese Oricon streaming charts for four straight weeks with both of their disco-pop English language songs "Permission to Dance" and "Butter."

"Permission to Dance" earned about 13.17 million streams from July 26 to Aug. 1, reaching the top of the weekly streaming category, according to the latest chart released by Oricon on Tuesday.

"Butter," ranked second after garnering 11.46 million streams.

As a result, the K-pop piece remain at both No. 1 and 2 on the chart for four consecutive weeks.

On July 19, "Butter" ranked first and "Permission to Dance" second on Oricon's streaming ranking and during the following three weeks, the two summer songs changed places and maintained its respective rankings.

"Permission to Dance" also topped the "Tokio Hot 100" chart released by the famous Japanese radio station, J-WAVE, for two weeks.

Previously, "Butter" also topped the same chart for the last six weeks and earned the status of this year's No.1 song.

"Tokio Hot 100" is J-Wave's airplay chart that combines the most played songs during that week on all J-Wave programs as well as sales volume of major CD stores in Tokyo and number of streams.

Meanwhile, BTS sat atop Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100" for nine straight weeks with "Butter" and also topped Billboard's "Artist 100" chart.

Through this achievement, BTS has broken American artists Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat's numerous records. "After spending nine non-consecutive weeks at the summit, 'Butter' is now the longest-running No.1 song of 2021," according to Billboard.
