SEOUL, August 8 (Yonhap) -- Netflix announced on Monday that the new series “Suriname,” directed by Yoon Jong-bin and starring Ha Jung-woo and Hwang Jung-min, will be released on Sep. 9.
“Suriname” tells the story of a civilian businessman who cooperates with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) for the secret operation to arrest a Korean drug dealer who has taken over the South American country, Suriname.
It is the first Netflix series of director Jong-bin Yoon, who directed the films “Nameless Gangster: Rules Of The Time” (2011) and '“The Spy Gone North” (2018).
Ha Jung-woo takes on the role of Kang In-gu, a civilian who risks his life for the secret operation of the NIS, and Hwang Jung-min plays Jeon Yo-hwan, a con artist and drug godfather.
Park Hae-soo plays Choi Chang-ho, who carries out the final operation to catch Jeon Yo-hwan, and Jo Woo-jin plays as Jeon Yo-hwan's right arm, Byun Gi-tae. Yoo Yeon-seok plays David Park, a lawyer who protects Jeon Yo-hwan.
Taiwanese actor Chang Chen will make a special appearance as Chen Jin, the head of the infamous Chinese organization.
The series will be released on Sep. 9.
