SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean band LEENALCHI will return with a new full-length album, "Heungboga," five years after their previous release, "Sugungga."

According to the group’s agency, Hike, LEENALCHI will unveil the album at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Based on the traditional pansori narrative Heungboga, the record follows the band’s 2020 album "Sugungga," which was also inspired by a classic Korean folk tale.

The 12-track album includes songs such as "Bueonaego Bueonaego," which depicts the scene where Heungbo breaks open a gourd, and the pre-released track "Try Living on Your Own," highlighting the humor of the original pansori story. The title track, "Do You Know the Three Bonds and Five Relationships?," portrays the introduction of Nolbo, humorously illustrating his many misdeeds.

Blending rhythms inspired by 1970s music with playful synthesizer sounds, LEENALCHI reinterprets the familiar tale with a modern twist.

Formed in 2019, the alternative pop band gained fame for transforming traditional Korean stories into distinctive dance music. They rose to prominence with their hit "Tiger Is Coming Down," winning three honors — including Musician of the Year — at the 18th Korean Music Awards in 2021. The group also recently contributed to the soundtrack of the popular tvN drama "Jeong Nyeon."

LEENALCHI will hold an album release concert at Nodeul Island Live House in Seoul on Friday.
