Jo Sumi to hold duet concert with foremost baritone Thomas Hampson

SEOUL, Oct. 25 (Yonhap) -- Soprano Jo Sumi will hold year-end duo concert with world-class American baritone Thomas Hampson.

According to Production agency SMI, Jo Sumi and Hanpson will host duet concert "Art Songs" at Seoul Lotte Concert hall on Dec. 22.

The first section will begin with Hampson and pianist Youn William playing six songs, which were written based on the poet of Heine, from Schubert's song collection "Schwanengesang," followed by Mahler's Symphony "Lieder und Gesange aus der Jugendzei" and "Des Knaben Wunderhorn."

Jo Sumi will present "Ave Maria" which re-arranged Bach's Prelude No.1 in C Major along with songs by Debussy, Sarasate, Chabrier for the second section.

Pianist Youn William, Spanish guitarist Marco Socias and violinist Christian Kim will also perform with Jo.

Thomas Hampson, an American world-wide opera singer and vocalist, is considered one of the world's three greatest baritone along with Bryn Terfel and Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Hampson will present Schubert's Winterreise at Tongyeong International Music Festival on Dec. 17.

Jo is holding "Jo Sumi & Friends In Love" concert with artists the day after the duo concert, on Dec. 233, at Seoul Arts Center.
