SEOUL, April 6 (Yonhap) --The aerial firefighters from the Korea Forest Service rescued an eagle owl, a natural monument, from the site of the Bonghwa forest fire in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

According to the Korea Forest Service on the 6th, on the previous day at 11:50p.m, at the site of a forest fire in Bonghwa-eup, Bonghwa-gun, aerial firefighters discovered the Natural Monument No.324-2 and a Class 2 endangered wildfire, eagle owl.

The discovered eagle owl is said to be young, estimated to be around 3 months old.

The firefighters have said that they rescued the eagle owl while extinguishing the forest fire as it was open to the danger of getting burned.

The firefighter said that the mother of the eagle owl was not seen at the scene.

The Korea Forest Service handed over the rescued eagle owl to a wildlife sanctuary.

An aerial Firefighter who found the eagle owl said, "I rescued the young eagle owl because it looked like it was going to burn and die right next to the fire."
