SEOUL, July 26 (Yonhap) --Korean actress Kim Se-jung is returning back to the screen through S.Korean broadcasting provider SBS’ drama with another refreshing character after her role in “Business proposal.”
Kim Se-jung appealed to the public of the pressure she holds by saying “I do not want the burden of the idea that the work that I participate needs to succeed like my previous work did.” adding “I hope everyone enjoys the series as I put a lot of effort into it as usual.” during the online press conference held for the TV series airing every Friday and Saturday “Today’s Webtoon” on Tuesday.
“Today’s Webtoon” originates from famous Japanese cartoon “Sleepeeer Hit!” which has a story of former Judo athlete On Ma-eum who’s life gets derailed due to the fatal injury, so she moves on from being an athlete to an contract worker at the editorial department of a webtoon company, her daily life at the editorial department presents whole new level of struggle.
Actress Kim Se-jung who will be acted out the protagonist On Ma-eum described one of the reasons she picked by sainyg “Today’s Webtoon” as her next project as “This series is about positively encouraging ones dream.” adding”dreaming by yourself can be very lonely but if there is someone next to you helping out then I think you will be able to get motivated more easily, I hope this series will provide comfort to those who strives to reach for one’s dream.”

For the character Goo Jun-yeong who entered the company with On Ma-eum, actor Nam Yoon-su was casted. Character Goo Jun-yeong is a perfect person who never experienced failure. However he struggles to adapt to the work he gets assigned to.

For the role of On Ma-eum and Goo Jun-young’s supervisor, editor in chief Seok Ji-hyung actor Choi Daniel was casted. Although Seok Jin-hyung is perfect at work place he shows clumsiness in his personal life.

As a lot of recently released dramas games, movies, and more are basing the original stories on Webtoons, “Today’s Webtoon” is drawing a lot of attention in hope that it will be able to provide insight to how working at the webtoon industry is like.
Director Jo Soo-won described one of the reasons she decided to work on as “Today’s Webtoon” as “I have always had my interest in webtoon, various paths each webtoon takes, fascinated me and made me wonder. Therefore I have picked this project to produce.” adding “Although the drama is about webtoons, in a deeper layer it is about how people live, I focused on putting the emphasis on emotional aspects throughout the series, and I hope everyone will enjoy the series.” during the press conference.
