SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Yonhap) -- Trot diva Song Ga-in is set to release her fourth full-length album, Ga-in;Dal, on Tuesday.
The new album will be available on various online music platforms at 6 p.m. While staying true to her signature traditional trot style, the album also explores a range of genres, including ballad, medium-tempo, and modern pop.
The title track, Asadal, is inspired by the tragic legend of Asadal, the stonemason who built the Seokgatap Pagoda at Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju. Song Ga-in’s signature sorrowful Korean traditional vocal style leads the song, deeply capturing the essence of Korean heritage. The poignant lyrics and melancholic melody highlight the beauty of classic trot.
Another title track, Tears Fall, was personally produced by legendary singer-songwriter Sim Soo-bong. The song’s lyrics express the bittersweet emotions of letting go of a loved one, blending seamlessly with Sim’s signature melodic style.
The album also features Lifetime, a song for her fans that Song Ga-in co-wrote; Farewell Song, a sentimental trot melody; Red Peony, a heartfelt love story of young lovers; Why Me, a Latin-funk-inspired take on heartbreak; Colorful Hanbok, a slow rock ballad about a mother’s love; A Father’s Tears, a trot ballad dedicated to fathers; and It Will Pass, a country-fox trot song that delivers a hopeful message.
Ga-in;Dal includes nine tracks, showcasing Song Ga-in’s versatility while staying rooted in the essence of traditional Korean music.
