Koo Jun-yup announces marriage with 'Taiwan Geum Jan-di' Barbie Hsu…reunite after 20 years

SEOUL, Mar. 8 (Yonhap) – S. Korean singer Koo Jun-yup from male duo Clon has married famous Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu.

Koo said on his Instagram on Mar. 8 morning, "I'm getting married," adding, "I'm resuming the love that I had but couldn't realize for a woman I loved 20 years ago.”

The singer did not specify his wife, but according to the music scene, his spouse is known as Barbie Hsu, a lover from over 20 years ago. Barbie Hsu is an actress who drew attention by playing the female lead of Taiwanese version of the drama "Boys Over Flowers," which was based on a Japanese romance cartoon. In Korea, Hsu is known as "Taiwan Geum Jan-di," which is named after the female lead of the drama aired in Korea.

Koo introduced their dramatic reunion, saying, "I heard about her divorce and searched for the number from 20 years ago to contact her,” adding, “Fortunately, we were able to meet again since her number was still the same.”

He also mentioned, “A lot of time has passed and I thought we couldn't waste more time. She accepted and we decided to live together after registering our marriage," adding, "I ask for your support and blessings as it's my late marriage."

Koo has already registered his marriage with Barbie Hsu and is expected to leave for Taiwan soon.

Barbie Hsu also wrote on her Instagram on Tuesday, "Life is uncertain. I cherish the happiness I have in the present,” adding, “I thank everything that has led to where I am now."

The actress married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, but divorced last year. The rising tension between China and Taiwan is also known to have been affected by this incident.
