SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Yonhap) -- "Brahms symphony is the perfect piece to work with an orchestra. This is my first time working on this piece with the Berlin Staatskapelle. I feel like I am on new adventure."

Christian Thielemann (63), who conducts prestigious German symphony orchestra Berlin Staatskapellea's concert in Korea,in a telephone interview on Wednesday through the performance agency Mastmedia said, "I am excited to meet Korean audiences with all Brahms symphonies, which is the main repertoire of the Berlin Staatskapelle."

The Berlin Staatskapelle, who will perform at Lotte Concert Hall and Seoul Arts Center on Nov. 28 and Nov. 30 each, is a prestigious orchestra with a 450-year tradition. Founded in 1570 as a national orchestra, masters such as Mendelssohn, Richard Strauss, Furtwangler, and Karajan have led the orchestra.

Daniel Barenboim, a world-renowned conductor and pianist, has been working as the music director for 30 year since 1992.

For the Berlin Staatskapelle's first concert in Korea, Christian Thielemann will take the helm for Barenboim, who has temporarily stopped performing due to health issue. Considered as one of the most orthodox conductors of German music, Thielemann was the chief conductor of the Munich Philharmonic and is currently the chief conductor of the Dresden Staatskapelle.

Thielemann said, "Barenboim has asked me to join the tour for him," adding, "Because I had no other schedule very fortunately, I could join. I am very happy to be part of the orchestra's first concert in Korea."

Thieleman and Berlin Staatskapelle will perform all of Brhams symphony over two days. J.Brahms, Symphony No. 1 and No.2 will be performed at Lotte Concert Hall on Nov.28, and No.3 and No.4 at Seoul Arts Center on Nov. 30

Thielman said, "Although Brahms only composed four pieces of Symphony, They are all composed of perfect sounds," adding, "This will be a valuable opportunity for Korean audiences to listen to four pieces of Brahams Symphony in a row."
