SEOUL, Apr. 13 (Yonhap) -- An international film conference, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Jeonju in North Jeolla Province, will serve as a venue to analyze and assess the “today” of independent and artistic films while pondering over means to expand their scope “tomorrow.”
The Jeonju Conference 2023 will be opened at the Jeonju Jungbu Vision Center for two days from April 30, according to the organizing committee of the Jeonju International Film Festival on Wednesday.
The conference, to be held under the official title “Tomorrow Will Be Different from Today: Dreaming the Expansion of Movies,” is set to be carried out by the organizing committee of the Jeonju International Film Festival. A slew of domestic and overseas film officials as well as key figures in the video media industry have been invited to the conference to pore over the current status of independent and artistic films from various perspectives while making predictions and promises on the future.
Through this international conference, those who are concerned with the industry will be offered an exceptional opportunity to inspect and discuss diverse related topics under the titles of “Public Capital and Independent Films,” “Public Capital and Film Schools,” “Movies Jumping into the IP Universe,” and “The Role of Film Festivals in Endemic Era.”
Highly acclaimed domestic figures will be speaking for each session: Jang Young-yeop, CEO of Cine 21; Park Ki-young, chairman of the Film Promotion Committee; Min Sung-wook, executive chairman of the Jeonju International Film Festival; Cho Geun-sik, president of the Korea Film Academy; and Lee Chan-ho, CEO of Studio Wave, have confirmed to participate and share their thoughts.
“We hope this conference to serve as a stepping stone for nurturing independent and artistic films,” said Moon Sung-kyung, an official from the Jeonju International Film Festival Committee.
