SEOUL, Nov. 24 (Yonhap) -- Since launching an incredible solo career with "Twit" and "Maria," Hwasa, the pivotal member of the four-piece K-pop girl group Mamamoo, is ready to release her second solo single album "Guilty Pleasure" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
"While I didn't think I was affected by COVID-19, I realized I was slowly losing my identity as I lost time to communicate with my fans on stage," Hwasa recalled in a showcase held at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul on Wednesday. "I became depressed when I started questioning about my job."
"The past one and a half years was a time for me to grow from my past self to where I am right now. I went through a bitter phase in my music career and a lot of my worries were long term and heavy."
"I finally feel like I've found myself after gaining balance little by little in my profession while preparing for this album," Hwasa added.
In addition to the title track "I'm a B*tch," the album includes two other songs titled "FOMO," which expresses hope to overcome fear and find peace within one's mind, and "Bless U," which depicts the desire to escape from a painful love relationship and
The 26-year-old singer said she specifically put in a lot of effort into the choreography of the songs.
"I spent a lot of time practicing the choreographies this time," Hwasa emphasized. "The times I spent practicing with all the dancers was a time that lifted me up, and it was very important to me."
