SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- An opportunity to experience the performance of Labor song (Nodong song), a traditional music and cultural heritage of Jeju, will be provided.

The Jeju International Culture Exchange Association will start the 2022 3rd Jeju Labor Songs performance in the front yard of the Folklore and Natural History Museum at 5 p.m. every Saturday from June 11th till the 27th of August.

The same performance will be held at the Seogwipo Cheonjiyeon Outdoor Concert hall at 5 p.m. every Sunday from 3rd July till the 21st of August.

The Jeju Labor Songs Performance was prepared to inform and understand the Jeju Labor songs, preserving the customs and traditions of Jeju, as a musical cultural heritage of Jeju to local residents and tourists.

The opening performances will be held in Jeju and Seogwipo City on the 11th and the 3rd of next month respectively.

Jeju Nongyo Preservation Society, Leeodo Folk Art Troupe, Deoksuri Folklore Conservation Society, and young singers who will shape the future of Jeju Labor songs, Bu Hae-mi, Kim Bo-ram, and Kim Na-yeon will be on stage.

Additionally, "Leeum Musical group" will be making a special appearance and present a colorful opening performance.

In the performance, various daily Jeju songs such as "the sound haenyeo rowing", "the sound of weaving mangeon", and "the sound of whipping up anchovies" will be presented.

The Jeju Labor Songs Performance will be free, and the performance will also be held in rainy weather.

"The permanent performance that started in the summer of 2020 in the yard of an old house is now being held for the third time this year after COVID-19," Ko Young-lim, president of Jeju International Cultural Exchange Association said. "As the years go by, the number of performers are increasing and the quality is also becoming better."
