SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) -- The Seoul Metropolitan Government will host "2026 Seoul Beauty Week" at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from Aug. 22-25, providing small and emerging cosmetics companies with opportunities to showcase their products and technologies to global markets and expand their businesses, the city government said Tuesday.

Launched in 2022, Seoul Beauty Week is an annual event where Seoul-based companies seek business opportunities by meeting buyers, investors and distributors from South Korea and abroad, while citizens and tourists can experience the latest K-beauty trends.

A record 152 companies will participate in this year's event, making it the largest edition to date.

The "Beauty Zone" in Art Hall 1 will feature 127 cosmetics and beauty-tech companies showcasing their products and technologies, while 17 medical aesthetics companies will take part in the "Medical & Beauty Zone" in Art Hall 2.

Four inner-beauty companies specializing in ingestible products such as collagen and PDRN will participate in the "Inner Beauty Zone" in the Art Hall lobby, while four lifestyle companies will set up booths at Eoullim Plaza.

At the "Beauty Trade Show," buyers from 115 foreign companies will hold export consultations with South Korean businesses.

The "Business Meetup Pitching Competition," organized in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Regional Office of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Shopee Korea, will provide consultations on distribution, investment, exports and retail placement while identifying promising companies.

This year's event will also feature the "Seoul Beauty Forum," which will discuss ways to help K-beauty evolve into a sustainable industry beyond a short-lived trend.

The forum will include a keynote speech by Joyce Liu, chief digital marketing officer of L'Oréal Korea, as well as discussions with experts from South Korea and abroad.

"K-Beauty Styling," an interactive program allowing citizens and tourists to experience beauty products and technologies firsthand, will be held at Eoullim Plaza and B the B.

All exhibitions and programs are free to attend and experience. Visitors can enter after registering in advance through the official website by Aug. 21 or registering on site.

"Seoul Beauty Week will develop into a business opportunity for companies seeking to enter global markets and a signature beauty festival where citizens and tourists can experience the latest K-beauty trends firsthand," Cho Hye-jeong, director general of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Creative Industry Planning Bureau, said.
