SEOUL December 6 (Yonhap) -- “When monitoring the production I came to sudden realization that this is what Hallyu drama is! I felt it.”
Director Miike Takashi known for his production “One Missed Call,” “13 Assasins,” and various action thriller, movies, successfully collaborated with South Korean actors Go Kyung-pyo, Jung Hae-in, and actress Kim Hae-jun through the original series of Disney Plus “Connect” under the Studio dragon’s plan.

Series “Connect” is about a immortal protagonist Dong-soo acted by Jung Hae-in who gets his eye pulled out by an organ smugglers and Jin-seop acted by Go Kyung-pyo a serial killer who receives Dong-soo’s missing eye.
Despite of the language difference, because the director is Japanese and actors and actresses are South Korean, Miike Takashi firmly addressed “There was not problem getting my thoughts across to actors.”
This was only made possible due to un imaginable amount of revision by staffs within the production to make sure the intonation, mood, atmosphere and more so the way actors reenact the scene can be as perfectly synched with the way director envisioned.
“I have asked professional translators to translate the scenario and then later on the production crew went over the lines revising it to make sure,” adding “Latter on when the production started I have already built up the trust with the actors and actresses therefore I just let the production take its course,” addressed director Miike Takashi throughout the interview conducted about the upcoming Disney Plus series ‘Connect.’
Continuing on, director stated “At the site of the production, I saw the film director Kim Ji-yong’s facial expression, sometimes throughout the progress director would give out questionable facial experience, when I asked why, director pointed out things to reword and fix to enhance the storyline. After a revision, we would talk to the actors and actresses and shoot again.”
Series “Conncet” is based on the Webtoon of writer Shin Dae-sung. Miike Takashi addressed how surprised he was once he was introduced with series. That is because despite of the similarities with Manga the way it is portrayed and described throughout the series was completely different.
“For example if you read the original version of the comic, it depicts the extraction or organ with fully blacked out scene with simple line describing the sound of the knife cutting through the body,” adding “Background was simple and the story of the series fly though, it was as if I was introduced with land of mystery.” addressed director Miike Takashi.
Moreover, director described “Simple Webtoon seemed like a screen writing,” adding “Since the original webtoon was simple we were able to spread our imagination to come up with scenes.”
Also, one of the important aspects throughout the series is music played throughout the scenes. Throughout the series, the music actor Jung Hae-in hums get reproduced by singer Z acted out by South Korean actor and rapper Yand Dong-geun, and later on it gets played as the original track written by Sunwoo Jung-a.
“If you watch all 6 of the episode you will be introduced with all three version of the song, every version has its own unique feel to it, therefore it is very fun to listen to those and think of the differences,” adding “personally I am a big fan of actor Yang Dong-geun therefore I like the most relaxed and laid back version the most.” addressed director Miike Takashi throughout the interview.
How did young actors and actresses of South Korea like to a Japanese director.
As of actor Jung Hae-in, director Miike Takashi used the phrase “Trustworthy actor” who not only looks out for the saffs, but also the actors and actresses participating in the production of the series. Whereas for actor Go Kyung-pyo he depicted the actor as the devil, because he has the mysterious vibe which attracts people.
Director also gave out short behind story of how he decided to cast Go Kyung-pyo for the role.
“I walked into the meeting with seeing only his slimmer version of the photo, he walked in little bit bigger than his photo and chuckled, while stating I have failed losing weight,” adding “Looking at his smile, I got the impression that he was funny, but at the same time this kind of vibe could emit the psychopathic vibe to the audiences. announced director Miike throughout the interview conducted on Tuesday.
