SEOUL, June 22 (Yonhap) – K-pop girl group IVE is on an unmatched roll thanks to the popularity of its second single "LOVE DIVE."
According to the music scene on Wednesday, the song, which was released on Apr. 5, has remained at No. 1 on the Melon "Top 100" chart as of June 22 at 9 a.m.
IVE, which debuted in December, 2021, topped the Melon "Top 100" chart for the first time since its debut on June 19, which is the 76th day of the release of "LOVE DIVE." It also topped the Melon Daily Chart on Monday.
When looking at the current Melon “Top 100” chart, there are (G)I-DLE’s "TOMBOY,” which made a big hit in the first half of the year, PSY’s "That That," K-pop superband BTS' "Yet To Come," and Lim Young-woong's "Our Blues, Our Life” on the top ranks of the chart.
In the music industry, ranking No. 1 on the Melon chart is considered a "trophy," which is much harder to win than winning the first place in a music program, given that it is impossible to win without the power of the group’s fandom or the attention of the public.
IVE topped this chart with a song that has been released three months ago, beating other prominent seniors.
“LOVE DIVE” is a song of dark modern pop genre with addictive chorus and percussion sounds.
The song, which contains a message to jump in with confidence whenever you have the courage to love, was also recently selected as the "Best K-pop Song" by Time magazine in the U.S.
IVE also surpassed 100 million views on YouTube for two consecutive music videos, including the debut song "ELEVEN" and "LOVE DIVE."
