SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Kim Seon-ho has acknowledged receiving settlement payments through a one-man company amid allegations that he operated the entity to evade taxes, saying he has since paid additional personal income tax.

His agency Fantagio said in a statement Wednesday that Kim established the company in January 2024 and received settlement payments through it from his former agency until February last year, before a new contract with Fantagio took effect.

“As a preemptive measure to correct mistakes stemming from his lack of understanding of corporate operations at the time, Kim returned all past corporate credit card usage records, family salary payments and the company vehicle,” the agency said. “For the amounts previously settled through the company, he has completed payment of additional personal income tax on top of the corporate tax already paid and is currently proceeding with the company’s closure.”

Kim had recently explained that the family-run company, registered at his home address, was set up for theater-related activities after allegations of tax evasion surfaced. However, when it became known that he had temporarily received settlement payments through the company while with his former agency, Fantagio released an additional statement.

“After recognizing that operating the company itself could lead to misunderstandings, Kim halted its operations,” the agency said, adding that there has been virtually no corporate activity for more than a year.

Fantagio also stressed that it has signed an exclusive contract with Kim under his personal name.

“From the date of the exclusive contract in February 2025 to the present, settlement payments have been made directly to the actor as an individual,” the agency said. “We clearly state that the company in question has no relation whatsoever to the contract process or activities between Fantagio and Kim Seon-ho.”

The agency added that Kim is “deeply reflecting on having established and maintained the company for about a year without sufficient understanding of corporate operations,” and offered an apology, saying he “bows his head in sincere apology.”
