SEOUL, Mar. 17 (Yonhap) -- The windows and doors of the main hall of Changdeokgung Palace will be wide open for warm spring.

The Cultural Heritage Administration Royal Palaces and Tombs Center announced on Mar. 17 that it will hold an event to open the windows and doors of Changdeokgung Palace from Mar. 22 to 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The areas where the windows and doors will be open are the regions around Huijeongdang, Daejojeon, Nagseonjae, and Gwalnaegaksa.

The windows and doors of the hall that could not be easily seen, such as the entrance of Huijeongdang Seohanggak and the hallway that connects Huijeongdang and Daejojeon, will also be open.

Anyone who visits Changdeokgung Palace can look inside through the windows that are open from the outside. Professional commentators guide the cultural heritage four times a day by each region.

However, heavy rains or winds might halt the opening ceremony.

Traditional halls are known to increase their durability when allowing wind and sunlight to go through by opening the windows regularly.

The staff from Royal Palaces and Tombs Center said, "In the past, the opening of windows of doors of Changdeokgung Palace was held only in some areas, but this year, the windows and doors of the major halls will be open all at once for three days,” adding, “From now on, we will regularly open the windows and doors of the palace halls in spring and fall.”
