SEOUL, Mar. 28 (Yonhap) – S. Korean actor Yim Si-wan showed another transformation into a dark hero in MBC TV's Friday and Saturday drama and Wavve’s original “Tracer,” which ended on Mar. 26.
Yim, who played Hwang Dong-Ju, the head of division 5 at the National Tax Service, played the character, who digs up into the case on his own without paying attention to others, in his own way of acting.
By showing the scenes of breaking down temporary walls with a hammer to find money hidden in the house of a CEO with 10 billion won of unpaid tax and enjoying the spotlight after taking money from a delinquent taxpayer in high amount, Yim showed satisfaction and excitement to the viewers.
In a recent video interview, the actor explained, "I was concerned about finding a way to act similarly to the real employee at the National Tax Service but I got a clear answer that it’s the place where people live as well,” adding, “I tried not to think inside the box of the National Tax Service but rather freely formed the character along with the emotions of Dong-ju.”
Yim Si-wan, a former member of K-pop boy group ZE:A who debuted as an actor through the drama "The Moon Embracing the Sun" in 2012, has been recognized for his acting by appearing in the movie "The Attorney” and the dramas "Misaeng"·"Hell Is Other People.”
Yim, who joined Song Kang-ho in the movie "The Attorney," Sol Kyung-gu in "The Merciless,” and Lee Sung-min in the drama "Misaeng," played the role with actors Son Hyun-joo and Park Yong-woo in this drama.
"I'm proud that I learned more about acting through this work. I want to be an actor who always shows new sides by playing the role that only I can express.”
The actor recently donated 20 million won to the Ukrainian Embassy in Korea and also participated in the so-called "Kind No Show" movement through the shared accommodation platform Airbnb.
Yim also mentioned, "I don't consider the income from acting as my own. It is my way to go back to the basics by finding a way to return it in any way," adding, "I want to give back to society in the future as well.”
