SEOUL, April 18 (Yonhap) -- Actress Kim Sae-ron is stepping down from the play 'Dongchimi.'
On the 18th, a representative for the play 'Dongchimi' announced, "Kim Sae-ron has decided to withdraw from the play due to health reasons."
'Dongchimi' is a theatrical play that depicts the tender love of an elderly couple and the camaraderie of three siblings, premiering in 2009.
Kim Sae-ron was scheduled to appear in the role of Jung-yeon, the youngest daughter, alongside actor Ahn Soo-hyun.
Kim Sae-ron's decision to withdraw appears to be influenced by controversies surrounding her return, which arose after news of her casting was revealed on the 17th.
Her name and photo were previously visible on ticket reservation websites, but her photo has since been removed following her withdrawal decision. Actor Ahn Soo-hyun will perform in the shows that Kim Sae-ron was scheduled to appear in.
Kim Sae-ron ceased all activities after being fined 20 million won for causing an accident in May 2022, involving a collision with trees and a transformer pole following drunk driving.
Although she participated in the Netflix drama 'Bloodhounds' released last year, most of her scenes were edited out.
Last month, she posted and quickly deleted a photo on her personal social media account showing her with actor Kim Soo-hyun.
