SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- GS Global, the trading arm of South Korea's GS Group, said Thursday it will enter Japan's cosmetics distribution market through Cosme Kitchen, a Japanese beauty retailer.

Beginning July 24, GS Global will sell South Korean cosmetics brands Jeju Indie, Talitha Koum and Pretty Actually through Cosme Kitchen's stores and online and offline sales channels across Japan.

The launch marks the first commercial sales initiative under GS Global's newly established cosmetics business. The company said it plans to build a global beauty distribution platform, starting with Japan.

Cosme Kitchen, which emphasizes eco-friendly values and skin-friendly ingredients, operates about 70 stores in major commercial districts across Japan.

GS Global said it selected Cosme Kitchen as its partner because it was looking for more than just a distribution network, seeking instead a premium retail environment capable of conveying each brand's philosophy and commitment to sustainability.

"This project marks the first step toward building a global distribution platform for K-beauty," a GS Global official said. "We will help more Korean brands expand overseas and, in the long term, develop this into a global beauty business model."
