SEOUL, June 1 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group aespa has claimed its first No. 1 ranking on the newly launched Global K-Chart, jointly created by South Korea's Melon, China's Tencent Music and Japan's Line Music.

According to Melon on Monday, aespa topped all three categories -- the daily chart, weekly chart for May 25-31, and the monthly chart for May -- released at noon.

The group is currently promoting its second full-length album, "LEMONADE," which was released on May 30.

The May monthly chart was compiled based on usage data collected beginning May 11, when the three platforms started aggregating data. Starting in June, monthly rankings will reflect usage from the first through the last day of each month. The daily chart is based on the previous 24 hours of activity.

BTS ranked second on the daily, weekly and monthly charts.

The Global K-Chart is updated daily at noon through Melon, QQ Music and Line Music. Rankings are determined not only by music streaming figures but also by fan activity indexes.
