SEOUL, August 26 (Yonhap) -- Concert in which cellist Choi Ha-young, who was the first Korean to win at one of the three biggest competition “Queen Elisabeth Competition,” participates will be held at Seogwipo, Jeju island.
Seogwipo city announced on Aug. 26 that invitation performance of cellist Choi Ha-young and Yibai Chen will be held at grand theater of Seogwipo Art Center on Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Queen Elisabeth Competition is one of the three world’s biggest music competition along with International Chopin Piano Competition and International Tchaikovsky Competition and is held every year by different categories (violin, piano, choir), and cello category was added in 2012.
Choi Ha-young, who graduated from Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and the Purcell School in England and won International Brahms Competition and Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition, won Queen Elisabeth Competition as the first Korean.
In this concert, Choi Ha-young and Yibai Chen will perform together. Choi Ha-young will play including Mendelssohn Cello Sonata No. 2 in D major, Op. 58, and Yibai Chen will perform Shostakovich Cello Sonata in D minor, Op. 40 with pianist Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort.
The concert is for 8 years and older while the ticket fee is first floor 10,000 won, and second floor 5,000 won. Ticket can be purchased at Seogwipo E-ticket.

Regular online reservation is available from Sept. 6 10 p.m. at Seogwipo E-ticket on a first come, first served basis, and discounted tickets need to show documents
on the day of the concert.
