SEOUL, June 16 (Yonhap) – Korea Energy Agency announced on June 16 that it has awarded the “Renewable Energy Certificate” to JYP Entertainment, the first company in Korean entertainment industry to carry out Korean RE100(K-RE100).
Korea Energy Agency held a ceremony at JYP Entertainment's headquarters in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, to mark the expansion of the use of renewable energy into the entertainment industry.
Korean RE100 is a Korean-style system of "RE100," a voluntary global campaign where companies try to use 100 percent of electricity as renewable energy.
In order for companies to implement Korean RE100, they must issue a confirmation of renewable energy use from Korea Energy Agency on their performance of using renewable energy electricity.
Through the collaboration with Root Energy Co., Ltd., which provides RE100 solutions to domestic and overseas companies, JYP implemented RE100 by purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates(REC) at 14 solar power plants nationwide.
