SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- Beauty professionals and students from across South Korea will gather on Jeju Island next week for the 10th Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Governor's National Beauty Arts Competition, local officials said Wednesday.

According to the Jeju provincial government, the event will be held at the Maison Glad Jeju Convention Hall on July 21.

About 400 beauty professionals and students from across the country are expected to compete in categories such as hairstyling, makeup and skincare, while approximately 1,500 people, including visitors, are expected to attend.

Hosted by the Jeju chapter of the Korea Beauty Association, the event is the only nationwide beauty arts competition held on Jeju Island. It aims to discover talented beauty professionals, improve technical expertise and promote the development of Jeju's beauty industry.

The event will feature live competitions in various categories, a beauty works contest, an exhibition of works by Jeju residents, a beauty equipment expo, professional training sessions, special lectures and a hair show.

The morning program will include hygiene and technical education sessions for beauty professionals, followed in the afternoon by competitions and judging for student and general divisions.

A commemorative ceremony will also be held to honor individuals who have contributed to the development of the beauty industry and to present awards to outstanding participants.
