SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- Netflix announced Tuesday that it will produce a new original series “Kin and Sin,” a series depicting the desires and conflicts among three families set against the backdrop of Jeju Island.

The streaming platform confirmed the cast lineup, which includes Han Suk-kyu, Yoon Kye-sang, Choo Ja-hyun, Yoo Jae-myung, Kim Jong-soo and Go Doo-shim.

The title “Kin and Sin,” derived from the Jeju dialect word “Gwaendang,” meaning relatives, revolves around the intertwined and turbulent relationships among the Bu, Yang and Go families, whose ambitions erupt into a violent feud.

Han Suk-kyu will play Bu Yong-nam, the patriarch of the Bu family who dominates the island’s pig farming and horse racing industries. Yoon Kye-sang and Choo Ja-hyun will appear as his half-siblings, Bu Geon and Bu Yong-seon.

Yoo Jae-myung takes on the role of Yang Gwang-ik from the Yang family, who is involved in real estate development, while Kim Jong-soo portrays Go Dae-soo of the Go family, a man who once found success in the casino business.

Veteran actress Go Doo-shim, a real-life Jeju native from the Go clan, will play a mysterious figure known as Daepan Halmaeng.

The release date for the series has not yet been determined.
