SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- Actor Hwang Jung-min has denied online allegations about his private life, saying the claims were made by a suspect accused of stalking him.

 

Hwang's agency, Ssem Company, said in a statement Tuesday that the author of the malicious online posts had continuously harassed the actor and was criminally charged by the agency last year.

 

"The court imposed provisional measures, including restraining orders, on the suspect on three occasions and issued a summary order imposing a 3 million-won fine after recognizing the stalking charge," the agency said.

 

It added that it plans to take additional legal action over the "maliciously edited" posts and apologized "for causing concern due to this matter."

 

Earlier in the day, posts alleging misconduct in Hwang's private life spread on social media. The author released what they claimed were text message exchanges and recorded phone conversations with the actor as evidence.

 

Hwang is currently appearing in director Na Hong-jin's film "Hope," which was released on July 15.
