SEOUL, May 26 (Yonhap) -- The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said Tuesday it held the "K Consumer Goods Promotion Exhibition in Prague" in the Czech capital from May 23-24.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Czech Republic and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. to allow local distributors and consumers to directly experience and purchase Korean consumer products.
A total of 315 products from 68 K-beauty and K-food companies were showcased, while seven Czech vendor companies operated booths at the event.
According to KOTRA, Czech imports of Korean cosmetics surged more than tenfold from US$4.7 million in 2020 to $48.05 million last year.
Imports of Korean food products also rose 80 percent from $5.18 million in 2023 to $9.37 million last year.
Lee In-gyu, head of KOTRA's Prague office, said K-beauty has become influential enough to shape the growth of local distribution networks in the Czech Republic, while the consumer base for K-food continues to expand rapidly each year.
He added that KOTRA will make every effort to help Korean companies use the Czech market as a springboard to expand exports across Europe.
