SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) – Rising stars of the Korean classical music, such as Arete String Quartet, the cellist Han Jae-min, and the pianist Park Jae-hong, will appear on the stage.
Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation announced on Jan. 13 that starting with Arete Quartet on Jan. 20, Han Jae-min(Jan. 27) and Park Jae-hong (Feb.10) will hold a "Kumho Rising Star" performance at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
Arete Quartet emerged as a rising star by becoming the first Korean to win the first place in the competition for String Quartets and 5 special awards at Prague Spring International Music Competition in May, 2021. The quartet consists of the violinists Jeon Chae-ann·Kim Dong-hwi, the violist Jang Yoon-sun, and the cellist Park Seong-hyeon.
In this performance, Haydn's String Quartet No. 25 C major, Bartók's String Quartet No. 5 B flat major, and Schumann's String Quartet No. 2 F major will be played.
Han Jae-min(15) became the youngest champion in the history of George Enescu International Competition in Romania in May, 2021, and in October, he won the Geneva International Music Competition in the cello category for the first time in 50 years since Chung Myung-wha.
Han Jae-min, who was selected as the youngest Kumho Rising Star, will play "4 Cities,” which is between a fairy tale and Basil for Poulenc’s cello Sonata, Falla’s Spanish folk song, and Janáček’s cello and piano. The pianist Lim Yun-chan will join Han.
