BUDAPEST, June 17 (Yonhap) -- K-beauty and e-sports events proved popular at a Korean cultural festival held in Hungary, with local distributors of Korean cosmetics selling out products and thousands of visitors taking part, the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary said Wednesday.
The center hosted "Korea Days-2026 KoreaON" on Margaret Island in Budapest over the weekend.
More than 17,000 local residents attended the two-day event, which began Friday, and enjoyed various aspects of Korean culture, including K-pop performances.
A K-beauty program featuring Korean hair and makeup demonstrations drew strong interest, with advance reservations filling up early as a large number of local distributors of Korean products took part.
According to the cultural center, interest was so high that Korean beauty products were sold out by the afternoon of the festival's opening day.
A K-food program introduced kimchi recipes using seasonal Hungarian ingredients, including cucumbers and kohlrabi.
An e-sports experience zone also featured exhibition matches with professional players.
"With the support of Hungarian citizens, KoreaON, which started on a small stage, has grown into a representative Korean cultural festival over the past seven years," said Yoo Hye-ryeong, director of the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary.
