SEOUL, Feb. 6 (Yonhap) -- "Death Note: The Musical," a musical based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata played by an array of epic musical actors, will be having their encore performance in 8 months.

The cast of “Death Note: The Musical” will be having their encore performance from Apr. 1 to Jun. 18 at the Charlotte Theater in Songpa-gu, Seoul, OD Company that is in charge of the production announced Monday.

The musical depicts a fierce battle between Yagami Raito, who finds a death note with which he can kill people by writing one’s name, and Detective L, who tracks him down.

The musical returned to the stage last year with a new season five years after its premiere in South Korea; the tickets for every performance of the new season were sold out in the blink of an eye by immersing musical-goers with creative production and unconventional stage designs. The performance period was extended by a month and a half, until August.

The riveting musical eventually won four awards at the 7th Korea Musical Awards that was held last month, including Best Picture among performances that had more than 400 seats, Best Director, Best Stage Design, and Best Supporting Actor.

“Death Note” with such a prestigious act and titles will be coming back to the stage in 8 months along with an array of new actors joining the cast members with whom the musical wrote the legend together last year.

Hong Kwang-ho and Ko Eun-sung will play the role of Yagami Raito, a high school prodigy; Kim Jun-su, who is also known by the stage name Xia Junsu, and Kim Sung-cheol will be appearing on the stage once against as the master detective L.

Jas Chang and Lee Yeong-mi will play the role of Rem, one of the two envoys who watch over the human world, while the other envoy Ryuk will be played by Seo Kyung-soo and Jang Ji-hoo. Lee Yeong-mi and Jang Ji-hoon will be joining the cast for the first time this season.
