SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- K-pop group Wanna One will reunite for a reality show for the first time in seven years.
Mnet Plus said Wednesday that it will premiere Wanna One’s reality program "Wanna One Go: Back to Base" at 6 p.m. on April 28. The show will also air on Mnet at 8 p.m. the same day.
Wanna One debuted in 2017 through Mnet’s audition program "Produce 101" Season 2.
The group rose to stardom immediately upon debut, entering Gocheok Sky Dome, achieving million-seller status with its debut album and sweeping both rookie and grand prizes at major award ceremonies.
After concluding its activities as a project group in 2019, Wanna One reunited for a special performance at the "2021 MAMA Awards."
The upcoming reality show is drawing attention as the members — who have since pursued careers as solo artists, actors and producers — come together again as Wanna One for the first time in about five years.
Ahead of the release, the group will hold an "opening ceremony" event at 10 a.m. on April 6 at DMC Culture Park in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, where they will meet fans.
The location holds significance as the place where the members first met fans during their trainee days on "Produce 101" Season 2.
"The group was more than just a project act — it was an icon of an era," the production team said. "We hope this reality show, featuring members who have grown in their respective fields, will be a meaningful gift to fans."
