SEOUL, Apr. 14 (Yonhap) -- Professor Seo Kyung-duk at Sungshin Women’s University will be joining hands with actress Song Hye-kyo, who is best known for her lead roles in multiple mega-hit series, including the Netflix sensation “The Glory” and “Descendants of the Sun,” once again to publish online and printed guidebooks for the Korean independence movement sites in the U.S.’ Hawaii.
Professor Seo shared the news on his social space, writing, “Making a frequent visit to the overseas sites related to our independence movement is quintessential for protecting those sites as a part of our history.” The professor is currently on a business trip to the American archipelago to visit the site where the Korean National Association Hawaii headquarter used to be situated, as well as the Center of the Korean Dongji-Hoi, and the Oahu Cemetery in order to gather related historical data and take photos of each site.
His pamphlet introducing the history of the South Korean independence movement sites situated all across Hawaii will be published in Korean and English languages in the first half of this year.
Professor Seo said, “I have been receiving many messages from people who say to have read and referred to the guidebook that I have been consistently donating to the Korean independence movement sites all across the world with actress Song Hye-kyo,” adding, “It is such a great news, and those messages motivate me to keep on doing what I do.”
The Korean history professor and actress Song have been collaborating on historical anniversaries since 2012 to donate and distribute Korean-language guide books, along with Korean-language signboards and relief works, to a total of 33 overseas historical sites related to the Korean independence movement. Professor Seo has been in charge of planning every detail of this project with Song’s sponsorship.
