SEOUL, Dec. 19 (Yonhap) -- The Disney+ original series Light Shop has not only captured viewers but also reignited interest in its source material.
According to Kakao Entertainment on the 19th, the original webtoon experienced a dramatic surge in popularity following the show's premiere on December 4. Between December 4 and 15, views on Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page soared by 187 times compared to pre-release numbers, while revenue jumped by 159 times.
Written by Kang Full, Light Shop explores themes of life, death, and the spaces in between. Originally serialized in 2011, the webtoon has found new life as a drama adaptation, with Kang Full himself penning the screenplay for the streaming series.
The show features a star-studded cast including Joo Ji-hoon, Park Bo-young, Lee Jung-eun, and Kim Min-ha.
The renewed interest in Light Shop has also benefited Kang Full's other works, such as Moving. During the same period, views and revenue for Moving increased by 200% and 300%, respectively.
