SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) -- A metal-shaped mural created by artist Lee Geum-hong has been installed and unveiled at Buam-dong, a neighborhood in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The art piece was installed on a 80m high retaining wall that faces north of the Jahamun Tunnel in Buam-dong. The place is famously known as the filming location for the Oscar-winning movie "Parasite."

The art work aims to express the stories of Buam-dong residents and local attractions in calligraphy based on motifs of mountain features and India ink painting methods used to create the "Inwangjesaekdo," a landscape painting by famous painter Jeong Seon in the Joseon Dynasty. The 40m long mural is characterized by a list of metal letters depicting the silhouette of the Inwangsan Mountain and starts from the entrance of the Jahamun Tunnel.

The installation of the mural has been promoted since May as part of this year's resident participation budget project.

"Considering the characteristics of high and long concrete retaining wall structures, we decided to install three-dimensional sculptural murals instead of simple paintings," Jongno-gu explained.
