SEOUL, Mar. 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean star Lee Do-hyun, who recently garnered international attention for his role in Netflix’s red-hot vengeful series “The Glory,” and veteran actress Ra Mi-ran will appear in JTBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday comedy series “The Good Bad Mother.”
The comedy series will hit the small screens at 10:30 p.m. on Apr. 26, the local cable channel announced Monday. It will follow the story of a single mother who had no other choice but to be a bad mother to her son, who becomes like a child after having an unexpected accident. The two search for the happiness that they lost when they were young.
The upcoming heart-warming television series sees Ra as the mother, Young-soon, who made herself into a bad mother only to protect her son in hope that he would not become like her. She raises her son alone by running a pig farm.
Lee will play the son, Choi Kang-ho, who grows up to become a cold-hearted personality. While pursuing his career, he turns away from his mother. However, he becomes like a child overnight after an accident and begins a new life with his mother.
A slew of veteran actors including Ahn Eun-jin, Yoo In-soo, Jung Woong-in, and Choi Moo-sung will also be joining this star-dubbed television series.
Ahn will play Kang-ho’s homie Lee Mi-joo, who has a warm heart and cannot walk away from injustice. Yoo In-soo will play the role of macho-like Bang Sam-sik, who is a troublemaker in Kang-ho’s hometown. In the meantime, Jung Woong-in will appear as Oh Tae-soo, a prosector-turned-politician who does everything to run for the next presidential election, while Choi Moo-sung will play Song Woo-byeok, the chairman of Woobyeok Group.
Producer Shim Na-yeon, who is known for her credits in the Baeksang Arts Award-winning television series “Beyond Evil,” took the helm. The series is based on the script written by screenwriter Bae Se-young, who wrote scripts for mega-hit films “Life Is Beautiful,” “Extreme Job,” and “Intimate Strangers.”
